Wrinkle FillersWrinkles develop for a variety of reasons including aging, sun damage, and facial expressions. Special wrinkle fillers are available to plump up the dermal layer of the skin. Wrinkles around the mouth, cheek, and in the chin (Marionette lines) are particularly well suited to improvement with injectable fillers. Acne scars can also be smoothed out with fillers. Newer long lasting fillers can also be used for replacing lost volume in the cheeks. Most wrinkle filler treatments are effective immediately and, other than a few hours of minor swelling, require very little recovery.
COLLAGEN wrinkle and scar fillers have been safely used by Dr. Coleman for over 25 years. Several collagen fillers are FDA approved including Evolence, Zyderm, Zyplast, Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast, Dermologen, Alloderm, and Cymetra. Collagen, derived from cow, pig, or human skin, is purified and injected into the skin to replace natural collagen lost with aging. This procedure is quite simple to undergo and can be performed under local anesthesia.
A variety of HYALURONIC ACID wrinkle and scar fillers have been introduced into the United States over the last few years. Many of these have been in use for many years in Europe and Canada. One of the most popular is Restylane which is composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in all mammals.
this filler is extremely well tolerated in humans and skin testing is not required. Restylane is especially useful in improving deep wrinkles around the mouth and grooves under the lower eyelids. Both Drs. Colemans often layer Restylane beneath collagen to achieve a two-layered improvement in wrinkles. They also frequently use Restylane to improve flat lip borders or to enlarge thin lips. Perlane is a thicker form of Restylane. Perlane is injected deeper than Restylane and is useful for lifting up deeper folds and wrinkles. Juvederm is another excellent hyaluronic acid wrinkle filler that features a smooth gel consistency and is especially good for lips. Other hyaluronic acid fillers we use include Prevelle, Captique, Hylaform, and Hyalaform Plus.
CALCIUM HYROXYLAPATITE. Radiesse is a totally different type of wrinkle filler. It is composed of calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel. Radiesse is not only used for correction of lines around the mouth and nose but can also be used to create more VOLUME in the cheeks, chin, and under the eyelids. Both Drs. Coleman also inject Radiesse to fill out unevenness in the chin and to smooth out irregularities in the nose. (Sometimes this can be used in place of nose surgery).
The FDA has approved POLY-L-LACTIC ACID (Sculptra) for deep tissue augmentation in patients with facial atrophy due to disease. It may also be used for improvement of sunken cheeks due to aging changes. Sculptra is generally well tolerated, especially when used with new dilution methods and gradually deposited in small droplets over several treatment sessions.
Although some physicians are illegally importing wrinkle fillers that have not been approved by the FDA, Both Drs. Coleman use only FDA approved wrinkle fillers to be sure that their patients receive treatments that are proven to be safe. In fact both Drs. Coleman have been among the few select investigators chosen to perform FDA trials to determine the safety of many of the wrinkle fillers available today and in the future.
Why choose us for dermal filling agents?

They have both been chosen as investigators in FDA clinical trials on the safety of several wrinkle fillers. They have written articles in the medical literature on these procedures. Drs William and Patrick Coleman have been invited to serve as a guest lecturers, teaching other physicians how to use wrinkle fillers at medical meetings in the United States and abroad. Since the proper use of dermal filler substances requires significant experience, it is best to choose physicians like Dr. William and Patrick Coleman who have performed this procedure for many years.
